How to Rip music from MySpace using Audacity audio program

MySpace is an excellent resource for up and coming musicians. If you just can't do without that hot new jam, then it's time to rip your favorite song using Audacity media player. This video tutorial demonstrates the process of ripping MySpace songs in a few easy to follow steps:

Step 1. Type into address bar: audacity.sourceforge.net

Step 2. Install Audacity with Setup Wizard

Step 3. Launch Audacity

Step 4. Select "Wave out mix" as your recording device

Step 5. Go to the band's MySpace page from which you wish to rip music

Step 6. Press red "record" button on Audacity, then press "play" button on Myspace music player.

Step 7. Once song has finished, press "Stop" button on Audactiy.

Step 8. You can delete any silence from the track by highlighting it with the mouse, and clicking "Delete" on the keyboard.

Step 9. Type into address bar: www.dll-files.com and download "lame_enc"

Step 10. After downloading, extract "lame_enc", and drag and drop lame_enc.dll into C:\WINDOWS\system.

Step 11. Go back to Audacity and click the "File" tab, then "Export as MP3"

Step 12. Choose name for track and click "save."

Step 13. You will be asked to "locate the LAME MP3 decoder". Go to My Computer, C: drive, WINDOWS, system, and select lame_enc.dll

Step 14. Once you have done this, you will be able to play the song on iTunes or Windows Media Player.

SELECT WAVE MIX FOR RECORDING

Go into Control Panel and click "Sounds, Speech, and Audio Devices", then you go to the "Sounds and Audio Devices." At the top it will have tabs with "Volume, Sounds, Audio, Voice and Hardware." If you click the "Audio" tab you have 3 drop down menus.

The middle one should say "Sound recording." If you click the "Volume" button in the Sound Recording bit, you'll get a window open with 3 volume controls, Line-In, Microphone, and Wave Out Mix.

Check the "Select" box under Wave Out mix and you'll be able to use Audacity fully.
